The curriculum of Algebra 8 combines 8th grade content with that of a high school Algebra I course. The course is broken up into 12 distinct units. There will be a variety of quizzes as well as a final assessment at the end of each unit. This final test may be a multiple choice test or a performance-based assessment that will allow students to show off everything they have learned within the unit. At the end of each trimester, students can expect a multiple choice exam that will include content questions from each of the four previous units. Notes and classroom work can be used on quizzes and some tests, but only a 3 x 5 notecard will be allowed on the trimester exam. At the end of each trimester, students papers will be collected and filed for an end-of-the-year portfolio.
